What I do with your details
Short version: you send me an enquiry, I read it, I reply. I do not share it with anyone, I do not add you to a mailing list, and this site does not track you.
Who is responsible
Nick Robinson, a sole trader providing guitar tuition, based in Tring, Hertfordshire. I am the data controller for anything you send through this site. You can reach me at info@nickrobinsonmusic.com or on 07957 195594. I teach in students' homes rather than from business premises, so I do not publish a street address. I will give it in writing on request.
What the contact form collects
Only what you type into it:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Who the lessons are for, chosen from a list. One of the options is a child's age range.
- Whether you want lessons at home or online
- Anything you write in the message box
There is no phone number field. If you want me to call you, put the number in the message and I will.
Why, and on what basis
I use it to answer your enquiry, arrange a free intro call, and if you go ahead, to organise lessons. Under UK GDPR the basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and my legitimate interest in replying to people who contact my business. It is not used for marketing and you will not be added to any list.
Who else touches it
- Web3Forms processes the form and emails it to me. They hold a copy for 30 days and then delete it.
- My email provider, because the enquiry arrives as an email and stays in my inbox.
- My web host, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses. That is ordinary web hosting, not something I look at.
- Google Fonts, which serves the two typefaces this page uses. Loading them sends your IP address to Google. No cookie is set and nothing is stored by me.
Nobody else. I do not sell, share or pass your details to any other teacher, agency or advertiser.
Children
Most enquiries about children come from a parent or guardian, which is how it should be. Please do not send a child's full name, school, address or date of birth through this form. It is not needed at the enquiry stage, and the age range in the dropdown is enough for me to reply usefully. Anything I do need for lessons is collected later, directly from you.
How long I keep it
If your enquiry does not lead to lessons, I delete it within twelve months. If it does, I keep what I need for as long as you are a student and for six years afterwards, because tax records have to be retained that long. You can ask me to delete anything I am not legally required to keep.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies and uses no advertising or tracking scripts. There is nothing to accept or decline, which is why there is no cookie banner.
Your rights
You can ask me for a copy of what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it, or object to my holding it at all. Email me and I will deal with it within a month, free of charge.
If you are not happy with how I have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. I would rather you told me first so I can put it right.
